COVID-19 Testing in Cuba

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) reports that Monday, March 30th, and Tuesday March 31st, from 8am-5pm, Cuba and surrounding area residents whom have internet access should use the NM Department of Health’s Should I be Tested screening tool at https://cv.nmhealth.org/should-i-get-tested/ to determine their need for COVID-19 testing. If the online screening recommends testing, please call 505-867-2291 ext. 1707 to schedule an appointment.

Residents who cannot access the NMDOH online screening tool are encouraged to call the Sandoval Public Health Office at 505-867-2291 to speak with a nurse to determine their need for COVID-19 testing.  The nurse will also be able to provide education, and recommendations on isolation.   For the safety of the community, citizens requesting testing should not drive to the public health office.

Testing will be provided for the following individuals:

  • People experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 infection: fever, cough, or shortness of breath;
  • People who have recently traveled from Europe (to include Italy), China, Iran, South Korea, or U.S. states with confirmed community spread.

It is critical to know before attending these screenings that those without symptoms of COVID-19 infection do not need testing for COVID-19. We are currently in allergy season, and having allergy symptoms such as sneezing, and itchy eyes, nose or throat is not an indication for testing.
