Cuba Fire Rescue is partnering with Sandoval County Fire Rescue and other fire agencies around the state, including the U.S. Forest Service, by placing a burn ban within the Village of Cuba and in the County’s unincorporated areas until June 30th.
The Village and County are taking this action to keep first responders safe during the current pandemic. The ban helps to reduce the number of responders on scenes to help ensure they are not infecting their entire departments or other groups.
Besides the Village of Cuba and unincorporated areas of the County, restricted areas include any area and/or facilities in the following Forests and Grasslands that fall under COVID-19 public safety restrictions issued by Federal, State, or Local agencies:
- New Mexico/Oklahoma/Texas
- Carson National Forest Black Kettle and McClellan National Grasslands
- Cibola National Forest Rita Blanca National Grasslands
- Gila National Forest
- Lincoln National Forest
- Santa Fe National Forest
- Kiowa National Grassland
