  • At Cuba Volunteer Fire Department, we are more than just a fire department—we’re a team of dedicated volunteers working together to protect lives, property, and our community. If you’re looking for a way to make a real impact, develop new skills, and serve others, we invite you to join us.

Who We Are & What We Do

  • We respond to a wide variety of emergencies in and around the Cuba, NM area, including:
  • Structure fires

  • Wildland fires

  • Motor vehicle accidents

  • Emergency medical calls

  • School drills and public safety education

  • Community events and outreach

We also support programs like our Junior Firefighters, aimed at engaging youth and preparing the next generation of first responders.

Reach Out to Us

  • You can contact us through our website or in person. Let us know you’re interested in volunteering and we’ll guide you through the process.

Join Us for a Meeting

  • We hold business meetings on the first Tuesday and training meetings on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 PM. These are great opportunities to meet the team, see how we operate, and start getting involved.

Complete the Application

  • Download the Volunteer Packet and fill out our Volunteer Application. All the information that you’ll need is in the download area above.

 Begin Training

Once accepted, you’ll receive training in areas like:

  • Fire suppression

  • Wildland fire tactics

  • Emergency response

  • Safety procedures

  • CPR and first aid (when available)

  • All training is provided free of charge, and we’ll make sure you’re fully equipped with the gear you need.

Start Making a Difference

  • Once you’re trained, you’ll begin responding to calls, attending drills, and becoming a core part of our team. The more you put in, the more rewarding it becomes.

What to Expect

Being a volunteer firefighter is an incredible experience—but it’s not always easy. Here’s what to expect:

  • Time Commitment: Emergencies don’t follow a schedule. You’ll need to be available for calls, meetings, and trainings.

  • Physical & Emotional Demands: The work can be tough—physically, mentally, and emotionally. But it’s also some of the most rewarding work you’ll ever do.

  • Teamwork: We rely on each other. Being dependable, prepared, and communicative is key to keeping everyone safe.
